Lake Chapala: World's Best Weather

One of the attractions to consider the Lake Chapala area as a potential retirement spot is definitely the moderate year round weather in Ajijic. And for the last 70 years or so Ajijic, Mexico has attracted a variety of English speaking expats for it’s wonderful weather.

Lake_Chapala_Worlds_Best_WeatherIt’s not uncommon that if some one is looking for a potential best places to retire’ the list usually includes; good weather year round, access to affordable quality medical care, and reasonable cost of living.

So let’s talk about the weather…

Frequently we are asked by potential guests these two questions,

"Is the weather for Mexico retirement that good?"
(Well, let's just say that National Geographic thinks so.)

and...

"What is the best time of year to visit Lake Chapala, Mexico?"

Generally, when someone asks the question they want to know when the weather is the ‘best’ in the Lake Chapala area.

Keep in mind that the discussion of weather is a relative thing, what is chilly to one person is comfortable to another and maybe downright COLD to a third person!

The same concept also applies to warm, comfortable and HOT weather, depends upon the interpretation of the person who is providing the opinion on weather.

So to summarize, since we live in the Lake Chapala area commonly described as 'The Land of Eternal Spring', the best time of year to visit, is usually determined by where you are coming from and what time of year it is the worst and not so much what is happening here in Ajijic.

So, if you currently live in an area that gets a lot of cold winter snow like the western areas of the US (Lake Tahoe, Denver  etc..) or mid west areas (St. Louis, Chicago, Minneapolis, Indianapolis etc..) or the North east (Philadelphia, Boston, New York City, Washington D.C etc..) then fall, winter or spring months might be the best time to visit Ajijic

Best_place_for_weather_Lake_ChapalaHowever, September through May in the spring would also be months that would be attractive for those that live in colder and wet climates such as Portland, Oregon and Seattle Washington and the like.

But if you live in an area that attracts snowbirds but is unattractive in the late spring months of May to fall months of October such as Arizona and Florida this time year might be best for you to vacation in Ajijic.

What could be more amazing than to live in an area, that has an Open Air Street Market every Wednesday?

But wait a minute...

This 'Retirement Nirvana' is starting to sound like Lake Chapala and it's weather and comfortable lifestyle is a little too good to be true. Kinda like some Bernie Madoff investment scheme, there's gotta be a catch.
