Lake Chapala and Ajijic Area

Lake Chapala is located 28 miles (40 minutes) south of Guadalajara, and is Lake Chapala RentalsMexico's largest freshwater lake. The Lake is over 3.5 times the size of Lake Tahoe (of California & Nevada) and from east to west the lake is 49.7 miles long, and about 12 miles wide. Situated at 5,000 feet in elevation, Lake Chapala is nestled in the Sierra Madre Mountains enjoys one of the best climates in the world according to the National Geographic.

This area also boasts one of the largest English speaking expat communities in the world and has been attracting foreigners to its shores for over 60 years.
